Proseminar Operations Research in everyday situations
General Information
The aim of this seminar is to provide an introduction to often complex world of Operations Research’s models and methods. That is to be done via easy and graphic problems.
The objective of Operations Research is the development and application of mathematical procedures. Thus, the decision-making processes in business-management are sought to be supported. Problems and processes are modelled mathematically and solved by using algorithms.
Over the course of this seminar, out of several graphic problems one has to be chosen. On that topic, a written assignment is to be prepared. The assignment should consist of a short formal introduction to the underlying mathematical problem as well as a reference to the application. Finally, the work is presented in a short 15 minute presentation.
In regards of content, the seminar is adjunctive to the courses BWiWi 1.2, BWiWi 1.14, BWiWi 2.2 and BWiWi 4.4 as well as the master degree course Operations Management.
Formal requirements: Written assignment (7 pages, single-line) and 15 minute presentation. The deadline will be announced by the lecturers.
